Question posed to Imaam Muqbil (may Allaah mercy upon him).

Q. "What is the legislated knowledge that is obligatory upon the woman to learn?"

A. That which is obligatory upon her to learn is her Aqeedah from the Book (al-Qur'aan) and the Sunnah. Then it is upon her to learn her Salaah. She's to learn how the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) prayed. If she is one who possesses wealth, she learns that which Allaah has obligated upon from Az-Zakaah. If she is involved in selling and buying, then she's to learn the rules/regulations of selling and buying. Likewise if she's involved in any work/action, it is obligatory upon her to learn the rulings of that work/action. Therefore this is the meaning by way of the Hadeeth of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam):

"Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim."
(Abu Ya'laa #2837 and other than him from the narration of Anas may Allaah be pleased with him. It was authenticated by al-Albaani in al-Mishkaah)
Likewise if she was a doctor, it is obligatory upon her to know is it permissible for her to be alone with a man? Or is it permissible for her to treat (a sickness) with that which is prohibited? It is a must that she knows the work/action which she is involved in by way of the Book and the Sunnah. What I mean by that, is the evidences from the Book and the Sunnah. I don't mean (by my speech) that she restricts her knowledge of medicine to the Book and the Sunnah."
