The Owner Wants More Money, Is this Permissible?
Question asked to Imaam Muqbil bin Haadi al-Waadi'ee (may Allaah have mercy upon him).
Q. A woman has an Amaanah (Trust) of $127.00. After some time (of her having it in her possession) she spent it. After that, she was requested to give the money back to the owner. However as a result (of what happened) the owner sought more than that (which she gave the other woman to hold for her)?
A. It is not binding upon her to give back anything except what she took. Seeking an increase will be considered Ribaa (interest). The Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

"The curse (of Allaah) is upon the one who takes the interest, gives it, writes the contract, and the two who witnessed the contract."
