There's No One From Amongst You, Except That His Lord Will Speak To Him

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) mentioned in his writing Al-Aqeedah Al-Waasitiyyah:

The seventh narration which establishes the speech (of Allaah):

It is His (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) statement:

"There's no one from amongst you, except that his Lord will speak to him and there will be no translator between them."

Imaam Al-Allaamaah Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated explaining this:

"Allaah will speak to him and there will be no translator between them. That will take place on the Day of Judgment. The translator is the one who is between two individuals who speak different languages. He relays the speech of one to the other.

There are four conditions that have to be met in relation to the one who translates: Trustworthiness, that he is knowledgeable of the language he is translating from, he is knowledgeable of the language he is translating to and he is knowledgeable of the topic that he translating.

In this narration it's established that from the characteristics of Allaah is: The speech, and it is by way of a voice that is heard and understood.

The person should be be afraid from that speech which will take place between him and his Lord that he will become exposed in front of Allaah, when Allaah addresses him about his sins. Therefore, leave off the acts of sin and have fear of Allaah."

The Plot of Shaytaan is Weak

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) mentioned:

"It is befitting for the servant to be firm, patient and have a constant connection to that which has within the remembrance (of Allaah) and the prayer. He should not become weary, for indeed with consistently holding fast to that, the plot of the Shaytaan will leave from him. Allaah has said:

"Indeed the plot of the Shaytaan is weak"
(An-Nisaa: 76)
Also Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:

"Whenever the Eemaan (faith), the Tawheed (Islaamic Monotheism), the light of the Furqaan (the Criterion) become strong and the traces of theProphethood and the message (sent by Allaah) become apparent the different Satanic situations become weak."

Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him) stated:

"Anyone who opposes the group of Ahl as-Sunnah are astray. We do not have except for one Jamaa'ah and they are Ahl as-Sunnah. That which opposes this Jamaa'ah it is opposition to the methodology of the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam). Everyone who opposes Ahl as-Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah is from the people of desires. The oppositions differ in their ruling in relation to (the opposer) being declared astray or being declared a disbeliever. This is according to the greatness or smallness of the opposition as well its distance and nearness to the truth. Everyone who opposes Ahl as-Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah from those who attribute themselves to al-Islaam in the affair of ad-Da'wah (calling to Allaah) or Aqeedah (Islaamic creed) or anything in the foundations of faith, indeed he enters into seventy two groups ( of deviance). Also the threat (of being in the hell-fire) includes him and for/upon him is blame and punishment according to the degree of his opposition."

Should I Sit and Mix with Them?

Muhammad Ibn Abee Rajaa (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:

"A man from the people of Koofah informed me that Imraan Ibn Hattaan married a woman from the Khawaarij to turn her away from the religion of the Khawaarij. As a result of that, she changed him and turned him to the views of the Khawaarij." One of the Salaf mentioned: "The person shouldn't say I go to their sittings and mix with them in order to turn them away from their innovation. Indeed, the matter is not guaranteed and the heart is quick to change. The rectification/righteousness of myself takes precedence over the rectification/righteousness of other than myself."

The People of Innovation

The People of Innovation

Imaam Al-Haafith Al-Maqdasee (May Allaah have mercy upon him) said regarding the people of innovation:
"Have knowledge, may Allaah have mercy upon you, that Al-Islaam and its people have been approached/attacked from three groups:
1. A group that has rejected the narrations of the characteristics (of Allaah) and declared the narrators of these narrations to be liars. These individuals are more harmful upon Al-Islaam and its people than the disbelievers.
2. A group that has stated that the narrations are authentic and accepted them. However, they falsely interpretated them after that. These individuals are a greater harm than the first group.
3. A group that has avoided the first two statements. They are more harmful than the first two groups."

The Balance of Ahlus Sunnah

The Balance of Ahlus Sunnah Regarding the Names and the Rulings -  Shaykh Alee Naasir Al-Faqeehi

An Exclusive Translation for Sisters Upon Al-Istiqaamah

Shaykh Alee Naasir Al-Faqeehi (May Allaah have mercy upon him) said, "The balance of Ahlus Sunnah in relation to the names and the rulings are, that which is intended by names here, the names of the religion i.e. Mu'min (Believer), Muslim, Faasiq (Criminal), and Kaafir (Disbeliever). That which is intended by "the rulings" are the rulings of the individuals in the life of this world as well as in the Hereafter. This means the rulings of the individuals who have these names.

This matter, of the names and the rulings, were the first affair from the affairs of the fundamentals which differing took place amongst the different groups. This took place after the events and battles which happened between Alee ibn Abi Taalib and Mu'aawiyyaah (May Allaah be pleased with them both). Along with that, which came as a result (of what was mentioned) was the appearance of the Khawaarij who declared Muslims to be disbelievers because of the committing of sin, therefore making the one who has committed a major sin to be a Kaafir. Likewise, there was the appearance of the Raafidah (extreme Shia), Qadariyyaah, and Mu'tazilah. These people differed regarding the one who commits a major sin from amongst the Muslims and what he is to be named. Is he a Mu'min? Is he a Kaafir or Faasiq? What is his ruling in this wordly life based upon these names? What is his ruling in the Hereafter?

The groups have divided, in this affair, into two sides and a middle. The Khawaarij and the Mu'tazilah are on one side, although the Mu'tazilah oppose the Khawaarij regarding the naming of this person in this wordly life. Then you have the groups of the Murji'ah on the other side facing the previous mentioned groups. And what I mean is the pure Murji'ah. Then, there you have Ahlus Sunnah in the middle between the two sides.

This differing is based upon their differing in the definition of Eeman and its reality with each group from amongst them. Therefore, based upon this, it is good that we define Eemaan first and foremost.

The Definition of Eeman: The Shaykh said, “Firstly, with Ahlus Sunnah, the Khawaarij, and the Mu’tazilah all agree thatEeman is the belief of the heart, acknowledgment with the tongue, and actions of the limbs. The Khawaarij and the Mu’tazilahopposed Ahlus Sunnah with their statement: Eeman is one matter. It doesn’t divide into parts or portions. It is doing everything that is commanded and leaving off everything thing that is prohibited. It doesn’t increase nor decrease. Sins do not co-exist with Eeman, rather it negates it. So, if some of it (Eeman) leaves due to the committing of something from the acts of disobedience, all of it goes. Therefore, whoever commits a sin from the major sins, his Eeman leaves him and his blood and wealth becomes lawful. (These are the statements of the Khawaarij.)

However, what is this person named (from amongst these groups).

1. The Khawaarij have said: The one who is disobedient is a Kaafir in this world and in the hereafter. In this world, the persondoesn’t inherit, he’s not to be washed, prayed over, nor shrouded, and he is not to be buried in the graveyard of the Muslimeen. In the hereafter (they hold that) he will abide in the hell-fire forever.

2. The Mu’tazilah have said: The one who commits a major sin, we do not name him a believer nor do we name him a Kaafir. Rather, he is between two states. Shaykhul Islaam ibn Taymiyyah (May Allaah have mercy upon him) said, “This is a matter that is specific to the Mu’tazilah which they alone have said. As for the rest of their statement, then others share with them the same statements.”

So, based upon this, they (the Mu’tazilah) say that the ruling of this individual in this life is:

1. We (the Mu’tazilah) don’t name him a believer or a Kaafir. Rather, he is between two states. He left from the fold ofEeman, but he didn’t enter into the fold of Kufr. They name him a Faasiq (criminal).

2. His ruling in this life is the ruling of the Muslimoon in regards to the sacredness of the blood, property, honor and inheritance.

He is to be prayed over and buried in the graveyard of the Muslimoon. This is how the one who committed the major sin is dealt with in this life.

3. They (The Mu'tazilah) say the ruling of this individual in the hereafter is that he will abide in the hell-fire forever. His punishment will be less than that of the disbelievers in it. That which has been mentioned is based upon one of their five fundamental principles which is that it is the obligation of the threat of Allaah being carried out. This means that whoever has committed a major sin, it is obligatory upon Allaah to enter this person into the hell-fire. When he enters the hell-fire he will not come out. This is because they reject the narrations from the Messenger of Allaah (sallaallaahu alayhi wa sallaam) in the two authentic collections of ahadeeth and other than them concerning the established intercession. They reject these narrations, which have within them the clear proof of the disobedient sinner, and from amongst them is the monotheist being removed from the hell-fire.

Rather, there is within these narrations the removal of the one who has the smallest amount of Eeman in his heart.

4. As for the ruling of the Murji'ah, the people of neglect, they are of different groups. The origin that combines all of theMurj'iah, that which is due to it, they have been named that (ie. Murji'ah), is the removal of the actions from that which is named Eeman. They are divided into three groups. The group which concerns us in this research are the true, outright Murji'ah. They are the ones who say, "The acts of disobedience do not harm the faith of the person just as acts of obedience doesn't benefit the person as long as he is a disbeliever. The reason why they say this is because they define Eeman as merely being theacknowledgement of the heart. This is case with them even if it is not expressed verbally by the tongue. Therefore, as a result of that, the one who commits a major sin is considered a complete believer with them, as the committing of the major sins do not have a negative impact on the person's Eeman.

For Allaah Alone

Imaam Abdul Azeez (May Allaah have mercy upon him) said:

The servitude is for Allaah alone.  Also, the dissociation from the worship of the Taaghoot and going to Him (Allaah's Book), for the rulings, is from the requirements of Laa ilaaha illallaaah (none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah) who is alone without partners.  It is also from the requirements of (the testimony) that Muhammad (sallaallaahu alayhi wa sallaam)  is the Messenger of Allaah.  Allaah is the Lord of mankind and their true deity.  He is the one who created them and He is the one who commands them and prohibits them.  He gives them life and cause their death.  He brings them to account and rewards them.  He is the one who is entitled to all acts of worship excluding all others beside him.

Allaah has stated:

"Certainly for Him, is the affair of creation and the commandment"  (Al-A'raaf : 54)

Therefore, just as he is the Creator alone, He is the one who commands.   That which is obligatory (upon the servants) is to be obedient to His command.

Is Allaah with his creation?

Ruling of the one who says Allaah is with his Creation (Ma'iyyah)

Q. What is the ruling of the one who says "Allaah has Ma'iyyah (being with His creation) that is befitting to His majesty similar to His descending and the like of it without there being any Hulool (dwelling within His creation) or resemblance (to His creation)?"

A. "Look, oh brothers (in faith), relieve yourselves of this speech. The Salaf explained the Ma'iyyah

"He is with you wherever you are."
(Al-Hadeed: 4)

as meaning the awareness and witnessing (of Allaah over all things).

"and Allaah is a witness over all things."
(Al-Mujaadilah: 6)

"Do you not see that Allaah knows that which is in the heavens and the earth, there is no secret talk between three except that He is the fourth, nor five except that He is the sixth, nor less than that or more, except that He is with them wherever they may be. Then He informs them of that which they did on the Day of Standing, indeed Allaah is all knowledgeable of all things."
(Al-Mujaadilah: 7)

This Ma'iyyah is knowledge, awareness, and witnessing (of the creation). He sees them, he hears their statements and knows their conditions. All of this while He is above His throne. Therefore, this Ma'iyyah is knowledge and awareness. This suffices us. That is because if we go beyond this point we enter into a problem; The Ma'iyyah is other then the descending (of Allaah). The descending (of Allaah) to the lowest heavens is as He wants. Also, that which is the strongest position is that Allaah does not leave from above His throne (while descending) because His descending is not like the descending of the creation."

A Person of Innovation

An Exclusive Translation for Sisters Upon Al-Istiqaamah
Al-Imaam Al-Barbahaaree said:
“If you see a man who strives hard and long in worship, is abstemious, being continual in worship, except that he is a person of innovation, do not sit with him, do not listen to his words and do not walk along with him, since I do not feel safe that you will not eventually come to be pleased with his way and go to destruction along with him." (Sharh us-Sunnah no. 149).”

Explanation Of Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan (may Allah have mercy upon him):

This is applicable to Jamaa’ah At-Tableegh who many of the people today have been deceived by because they look solely at things that are apparent from them like their worship and them influencing the sinners to repent, as they say, and their great effect upon those who accompany them.

However, they remove the sinners from disobedience to innovation, and innovation is more evil than disobedience. The sinner from Ahlus Sunnah is better than the devout worshipper from the people of innovation. So a person should pay attention to this.

I have not stated this because I dislike the good that they possess, if they possess any good, rather I have only said this disliking the innovation because innovation destroys the good.

The innovations that Jamaa’ah At-Tableegh are upon have been mentioned by those who accompanied them and then repented from this association; and many books have been written warning against them and clarifying their innovations.

When Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ibraheem initially allowed them to give Da’wah in the Kingdom then this was because their reality was not clear to him. But when their affair became clear to him he wrote a profound refutation upon them as can be found in his Fataawa (1/227). And he made it conditional upon them to call to Tawheed but they did not fulfil this condition.

Likewise, when Ibn Baaz initially praised them, then this was because their affair was not clear to him but when their reality became clear to him he recanted from this, and he said, “No one should accompany them unless he wants to call them to the truth and to At-Tawheed, and to criticise them for their opposition [to the truth].” (Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (8/296)

This is what he said (May Allah have mercy upon him), even though the person of innovation will not accept Da’wah (being invited to the truth) and similarly someone who is upon (a deviant) methodology will not abandon the methodology upon which he pledged allegiance to his Shuyookh.

“Since I do not feel safe that you will not eventually come to be pleased with his way and go to destruction along with him.”

This is the end result if you were to walk with him and sit with him, and if you were to be pleased with his state. Verily, his innovation will have an effect upon you and you will deem it to be acceptable [and good] and you will be destroyed along with him and you will be an innovator.

The threat from the innovators is extremely dangerous and how many of them are there in our time! But it is obligatory upon us to know what innovation actually is because some of the people consider everything to be an innovation whereas innovation has guidelines. If it is established that this individual is upon innovation then do not sit with him and do not accompany him.

A Lecture in Aqeedah

A Lecture in Aqeedah
Shaykh Abdul Azeez ibn Abdullaah ibn Baaz (Rahimahullaah ta'aala)

Exclusive Translation for Sisters Upon Al-Istiqaamah

All praise is due to Allaah and prayers upon the the Prophet and upon his family and his companions and those who are guided from his guidance.  As to what follows.  Allaah the Mighty and Majestic, in his noble book, and the most truthful of those who speak:

What is translated to mean:

“And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). I seek not any provision from them (i.e. provision for themselves or for My creatures) nor do I ask that they should feed Me (i.e. feed themselves or My creatures).  Verily, Allah is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong.” (Adh-Dhariyat  51:56-58)

Allaah has made clear in this noble verse that he has created the two species, the jinn and mankind, for his worship.  These acts of worship are:  islamic monotheirm, his obedience, following his legislation. It is also Islam, Eemaan and guidance.  It is righteousness and piety.  Allaah has indeed ordered them with these acts of worship.

So Allaah said what is translated to mean:

“O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become Al-Muttaqun .” (Al-Baqarah 2:21)

And Allaah said what is translated to mean:

“Worship Allâh and join none with Him in worship....”  (An-Nisaa 4:36:)

And Allaah said what is translated to mean:

“And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him....." (Al-‘Israa 17:23)

The meaning of He decreed, is that He commanded and He made incumbent.

And Allaah said what is translated to mean:

“And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him).”  (Al-Baiyinah 98:5)

Allaah sent the Messengers with that and HE sent the Messengers with these acts of worship.

So Allaah said what is translated to mean:
“And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allâh)." (An-Nahl 16:36)

Therefore, what is obligatory upon all species, jinn and mankind, arab and non-arab, males and females, the rich and the poor, the kings and other than them is that they worship Allaah alone.  That is conducted with the Islaamic Monotheism and sincerity for Him. It is also done by way of making the acts of worship specifically for him excluding all besides Him, from the prayer, supplication, fear, hope, the placing of one's trust, desire, awe, fasting, pilgrimage and other than this from the acts of worship.  He is the One who has the right to be worshipped alone Glory be to Him the Most High and far removed from imperfection.  No one has the right to be worshiped besides Him.

And what He (Allaah) said what is translated to mean:
”That is because Allah He is the Truth (the only True God of all that exists, Who has no partners or rivals with Him), and what they (the polytheists) invoke besides Him, it is Batil (falsehood) And verily, Allah He is the Most High, the Most Great.” (Al-Hajj 22:62)
