A Man Teaching A Slave Woman And His Family

A Chapter From Bukhari’s Authentic Collection (Saheeh Al-Bukhari)
Chapter: A Man Teaching A Slave Woman And His Family
(An exclusive translation for Sisters Upon Al-Istiqaamah)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

There are three who will receive their reward twice: a man from among the People of the Book who believed in his Prophet and then believed in me, a slave who fulfills his duty towards Allah and towards his master and a man who has a slave woman who he cultivated and educated well, then he freed her and married her; he will receive his reward twice.

Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajr Al-‘Asqalaanee (may Allah have mercy upon him) said in his explanation of Saheeh Al-Bukhari entitled Fath Al-Baari (1/154):

“The connection between this hadeeth and the chapter heading as it applies to a slave woman is made clear by the wording of the text [i.e. the hadeeth]. As it relates to the family then this is derived through analogical deduction (Qiyaas) because being concerned with teaching the family who are not slaves the obligations which Allah has placed upon them and the Sunan of the Messenger of Allah is emphasized more than being concerned with the teaching of slave women.”
